Tara Donovon assembles, stacks and sticks multiples of everyday objects – paper plates, paper clips, drinking straws, and Styrofoam cups. For her 2003 installation,  Haze,  she stacked over two million clear plastic drinking straws against the gallery wall.

Her work doesn’t seem to have much to do with the function of the objects she uses, just the form, shape and weight. She turns everyday objects into elegant installations.

I’m often drawn to the use of multiples – I like the potential for difference that a piece involving multiples offers with each installation – and there’s something impressive about how a simple object can transcend itself when presented in such a vast quantity.

She has also made lots of prints using elastic bands.
